Welcome to our Board, Alumni, and Friends
As we move into October, we also move into one of the busiest weeks on the University calendar. Tomorrow and Friday, we will welcome our Board of Directors to campus for its first quarterly meeting of the 2023-24 academic year. Following the meeting, I am planning to host my usual post-Board forum for faculty and staff from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, in Bayley Auditorium, Kuss Science Center, so please save that date (event postponed - date TBD). At that time, I will share key action items and discussion topics, one of which will be the challenges facing Wittenberg and so many other colleges and universities. The challenges are significant, but that's the nature of the world today, which is why we must adapt to current realities — something that will require the support of all of us, along with our alumni and friends.
During and after the Board meeting, we will be fully immersed in our Homecoming, Reunion, and Family Weekend activities, October 5-8. I encourage each of you to participate in some of the scheduled events as we welcome our alumni, friends, and families to campus. Many in our community have worked hard to make this annual tradition a special one, and I am grateful to everyone who is helping to create a meaningful, engaging, and impactful experience.
Enjoy the cooler temperatures this season brings, and thank you for continuing to invest yourself in the life of Wittenberg. Tigers always thrive together. Below please find some additional updates.

Strategic Plan Implementation Action Item
As part of the implementation of our strategic planning work with Credo, we are asking all employees to take a quick Employee Engagement Survey, the results of which will help Wittenberg measure its performance. The voluntary survey should take about five minutes to complete, and responses are entirely anonymous.
Investing in Spaces for Conversation & Connection
Thanks to a gift from the Shouvlin family, we have been updating the first level of our Shouvlin Center, along with Room 105, a popular area for meetings and receptions. We expect the space to be ready shortly, and I want to thank our facilities management team for its leadership in making these needed upgrades.
Alumni Achievement Awards
The Wittenberg University Alumni Association will honor seven individuals with special distinctions at a ceremony Friday evening, October, 6, during Homecoming, Reunion, and Family Weekend. More on our awardees can be found on the website.
Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony
On Thursday night, eight former Wittenberg student-athletes have been selected for induction into the school’s Athletics Hall of Honor, in addition to an alum who will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award and two “Teams of Distinction." More on all the inductees can be found on the website.
Stay Engaged All Academic Year
Every year, multiple offices and departments work to bring a range of engaging events to our campus. From guests speakers, performers, and distinguished alumni to creative activities, athletic contests, service, and community-building, the events provide time to connect and be engaged in the life of Wittenberg. Be sure to bookmark our events page, which includes respective links to athletics- and alumni-related events.
