ASCENT-STEM Teacher Scholarship and Stipend Program

The National Science Foundation’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program aims to recruit, prepare, and retain highly effective secondary math and science teachers for high-needs schools through the ASCENT-STEM program. The program offers junior and senior undergraduate students pursuing Adolescent Young Adult Licensures in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics approximately $20,000+ scholarships per year and $10,000 stipends during your first-year teaching as funding permits.

Criteria and Eligibility: All prospective Noyce Scholars will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have status as U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents;
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before applying to the program;
  • Achieve and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 3.0;
  • Declare a major in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics, as well as a minor in adolescent/young adult (AYA) education;
  • Have at least junior status;
  • Display the knowledge, skills, and disposition appropriate to teaching (as defined by Performance Outcomes for the TEP);
  • Commit to complete two years of service as a math or science teacher in a high-need school for each year of the scholarship (or four years total);
  • Agree to remain connected with the Noyce project team after graduation and through their teaching obligation;
  • Submit a two-page essay on the value of the Noyce scholarship to their professional STEM teacher development.
