Policy
Seniors can apply for a fifth year of institutional financial aid during their fourth year of study at Wittenberg. Students must be in good academic standing, must meet the requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid eligibility, and have an academic plan in place with their faculty advisor to graduate within the fifth year. Students must enroll full-time in order to use institutional financial aid for their fifth year of study. We realize that student-athletes may be able to enroll part-time during their final semester, so we will need information regarding that enrollment plan as well. Each student who submits the appeal must also file a FAFSA for the next academic year.
This is an appeal process, and appeals are approved on a case-by-case basis. The Office of Financial Aid will review the student’s academic record and remaining aid eligibility (federal and state) as a part of this review process. The outcome of the review will be communicated via email to the student.
Process
- Complete step one of the Appeal for a Fifth Year of Financial Aid Assistance Form
- Send or bring the form to the Office of the Registrar
- The Office of the Registrar will complete step 2 and will forward the form to the Office of Financial Aid
- The Office of Financial Aid will complete step 3 to determine aid eligibility
- The Office of Financial Aid will send the student an email notification after the review process has been completed
Please note: Wittenberg scholarships and grants will not be renewed after the fifth year. Only remaining federal and state aid eligibility may be used when additional time is needed beyond the fifth year.
